Day Camp with Half Day option
One of Wilson’s most popular tennis camps across the nation, the Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camp at Texas Christian University, offers nine weeks of incredible fun and learning. The camp at TCU is co-directed by the world-class TCU tennis coaches David Roditi & Lee Taylor Walker, and Christopher Williams. Nestled on the beautiful TCU campus, this camp offers something for everyone with full and half-day camper options.
Each summer, the camp is held at the Bayard Friedman Tennis Center, home of the TCU Varsity tennis teams. Each camper receives personal attention throughout the week, advanced teaching techniques, intensive drill work, and game/match play daily. Campers are divided into small instructional groups with those of similar age., ability and experience, so each child is working in a group commensurate with their experience level. We tailor each program to the level of the players. Action-packed days with tennis fun and extracurricular activities like swimming (for full-day campers) ensure the tennis camp at TCU is the highlight of the summer for kids ages 5-18.
We will have extensive use of the indoor tennis center for this summers camp. As you know, the weather can get quite hot in TX during this time frame and the ability to use the indoor courts – will greatly assist our campers enjoyment.

Q: Are there Skill Requirements for this camp?
Per NCAA rules, our sports camps are open to all entrants. Enrollment is limited only by age, grade level, gender, and capacity restrictions as specified by each camp.
Q: What type of campers attend this camp?
Our camps are open to all levels of tennis players. We have players from absolute beginner to high school / Tournament level.
We design our camps to teach the technical basics and love of the game to the beginning player, to introduce strategical decision making, and more advanced technique to the intermediate player, while building on their current stroke production, and to put the advanced players into pressured, strategical and competitive situations.
Q. What is the ratio of campers to staff?
Groups will be divided into small instructional groups of approximately 5-6: 1 camper to coach. Some camps/sessions offer higher or lower ratios based on the curriculum.

Q. Should I purchase camp/cancellation insurance?
We recommend all families purchase camp/cancellation insurance if they are concerned about the investment they are making in the camp. Kids do get injured, sick and family plans change from the time of registration leading up to the camp. Camp insurance allows peace of mind and has many benefits in any of these events. Swimming:
- Swimming is available T/Th/F. Bring bathing suit, towel, sandals.

- Camp safety is our number one priority. All efforts are made to ensure that the kids are safe throughout the camp. Safety will be prioritized over tennis and activities when necessary. The camp, Wilson Sporting Goods, Premier Sports camps and its coaches and universities are not responsible for personal items brought to camp.

David Roditi
Head Men’s Tennis Coach

David Roditi, one of the great players in the history of the TCU men’s tennis program, was hired as the Horned Frogs’ head coach on Sept. 7, 2010. A three-time All-American who lettered from 1993 through 1996, he still holds the school record for combined career victories (250).
Roditi has led TCU to the top of the intercollegiate tennis world. A top-50 program when he was hired, Roditi has since led the program to back-to-back ITA Indoor National Championships in 2022 and 2023 and guided the Horned Frogs to nine consecutive NCAA Sweet 16 appearances (2015-2023). The Horned Frogs have advanced to the NCAA Team Championships in four straight seasons and six times overall since 2015. No program nationwide has earned more Elite Eight berths than TCU in that span. Through Roditi’s leadership, TCU has finished in the top-10 of the ITA team rankings for nine straight seasons, a streak unmatched by any Division I program. Entering the 2023 campaign, Roditi possesses a 250-99 (.716) career record. He holds the second most wins in TCU head coaching history behind his own coach, and TCU legend, Tut Bartzen. Roditi owns a 24-9 career record in NCAA Tournament play and a 15-8 record at the ITA Indoor National Championships. He has been honored as Big 12 Coach of the Year in five of his 13 seasons at the helm (2015-2017, 2022-2023).
A nationally ranked player during each of his four years on campus as a player, he twice reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Doubles Championships alongside partner Paul Robinson. The pair finished the 1995 season ranked No. 2 nationally in doubles and was rated as high as No. 1 at times in both 1995 and 1996. Among the titles won by the duo were two ITA National Clay Court championships (1994, 1995) and the 1994 ITA All-American Championships crown. The players were also named to the Rolex Collegiate All-Star Team in 1996. Roditi capped his career by earning a career-best No. 25 singles rating in 1996 to go along with a No. 5 mark in doubles. Overall, he posted a combined career record of 250-82 for TCU, which is 12 victories more than any other player in program history. He also ranks No. 2 in doubles wins (121) and No. 4 in singles victories (129). Three times he was ranked All-Southwest Conference in both singles and doubles (1994, 1995, 1996) and he combined for five individual SWC individual singles and doubles titles. The accomplishments resulted in his election to the TCU Lettermen’s Association Hall of Fame in 2007. Following his time as a Horned Frog, Roditi enjoyed a highly successful professional career. He reached a career-high position of No. 41 in the ATP doubles rankings and recorded a win over the former No. 1 doubles team of Mark Woodforde and Todd Woodbridge. He also represented Mexico in 10 Davis Cup matches.
In his six years at the helm of the TCU men’s tennis program, Roditi has returned the Horned Frogs to the top of the tennis world. A top-50 program when he was hired, Roditi has led the team to back-to-back top 5 finishes as they were ranked No. 4 at the end of 2015 and tied the program-high of No. 3 to conclude the 2016 season.
Starting the 2015-16 at No. 3 in the first Oracle/ITA poll, Roditi led the team to unprecedented heights, which included the program’s first Big 12 Regular Season title as well as being named champions of the Big 12 Tournament. After hosting the ITA Kick-Off Weekend for the first time in program history, TCU earned a bid to the ITA National Team Indoor Championship for the second straight season where the team advanced to the semifinals.

Karl Richter
Lead Coach
Texas Christian University
Karl Richter grew up and played junior tennis in Northern California. He was Junior College National Doubles Champion in 1978 and Runner Up in Singles the same year. Richter then played at TCU from 1979 to 1982 and in 1981 won the NCAA National Championship in Doubles with partner David Pate, becoming the first tennis players in TCU history to win a National Championship. After college, Richter played on the ATP tour for 4 ½ years, competing in the main draw of all four Grand Slams. After retiring from his playing career, Richter spent 12 years as Assistant Men’s Tennis Coach at TCU, followed by coaching for more than 20 years at Aledo High School.

Stephen Pierce
Lead Coach

Stephen Pierce has been working in tennis since 1992. He currently serves as the Head Tennis Coach at South Hills High School, where he has been coaching for the past 18 years. Pierce has been working with TCU Wilson Tennis Camps since 2016. He previously worked with the TCU Men’s Tennis program as a Student Athletic Trainer from 1992-1996, and worked on the USTA Professional Tennis Tour as an Athletic Trainer from 1999-2002. He also worked the US Open in 2001. Pierce has been a National Certified and State Licensed Athletic Trainer since 1996.

Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center & Bartzen Varsity Courts History
The Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center and Bernard J. “Tut” Varsity Courts is widely considered as one of the finest tennis facilities in all of collegiate athletics. Completed in 1976 at the cost of over $2-million, the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center and Bartzen Varsity Courts plays home to the TCU men’s and women’s tennis programs and is located on the southwest corner of campus.
The Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center houses both indoor and outdoor facilities and features 27 total courts – six varsity tennis courts and five indoor courts, which are reserved solely for the men’s and women’s tennis programs – as well as 16 courts that are for public use. The outdoor section of the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center includes a pavilion with a seating capacity of 1,500 to go along with fully stocked pro shop and complete locker facilities. The outdoor courts are recessed by as much as 16 feet, which provides wind control and deleting many viewing obstructions.
