Join the Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camp at Indiana University for an incredible week of tennis! Located on the picturesque IU campus, this summer tennis camp in Bloomington will immerse campers with the ultimate tennis camp experience.
In 2024, we will feature three weeks of camp. Our traditional camp, with an emphasis on stroke production and swing technique, is supplemented with two weeks of Match Play camp, a camp designed for more experienced players with an emphasis on strategy and point building. The Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camp at Indiana University is the perfect preparation for young players who are looking to get more involved with playing competitive tennis. Each camper receives personal attention, advanced teaching techniques, intensive drill work, and game/match play, all in a fun and competitive environment.

Camp Program:

Our tennis camps are designed to focus on the fundamentals and swing techniques of modern tennis strokes. We tailor the instruction to the skill level and experience of each level of player. Some of the areas of focus for each level include:
- Beginners:Â The beginning-level player will be introduced to the basics of the game. Emphasis will be placed on stroke production and the technical aspects of the swing to teach these young players sound fundamentals from the ground up.
- Intermediate:Â Intermediate-
level players will also focus on stroke production (to ensure proper technique) and be introduced to gameplay situations to introduce these players to the competitive side of the game. - High School / Tournament:Â Â High school (both varsity and JV) and tournament players will focus on the strategic and competitive aspects of the game. Although swing fundamentals are featured, emphasis will also feature point building, court positioning, patterns of play, and live ball drill work.

Inclement Weather:
- The Indiana University Tennis Center does feature indoor courts next to the outdoor facility and camp will be held rain or shine. Schedules and times may be adjusted throughout the week to ensure the maximum amount of time on the courts.

- Kids are grouped by skill, age and experience. Often these groups change throught the course of the camp.

Q: Are there Skill Requirements for this camp?
Per NCAA rules, our sports camps are open to all entrants. Enrollment is limited only by age, grade level, gender, and capacity restrictions as specified by each camp.
Q: What type of campers attend this camp?
Our camps are open to all levels of tennis players. We have players from absolute beginner to high school / Tournament level.
We design our camps to teach the technical basics and love of the game to the beginning player, to introduce strategical decision making, and more advanced technique to the intermediate player, while building on their current stroke production, and to put the advanced players into pressured, strategical and competitive situations.
Q. What is the ratio of campers to staff?
Groups will be divided into small instructional groups of approximately 5-6: 1 camper to coach. Some camps/sessions offer higher or lower ratios based on the curriculum.
Q. If the camp is full, do you have a waiting list?

Q. Should I purchase camp/cancellation insurance?
We recommend all families purchase camp/cancellation insurance if they are concerned about the investment they are making in the camp. Kids do get injured, sick and family plans change from the time of registration leading up to the camp. Camp insurance allows peace of mind and has many benefits in any of these events. Swimming:
- This camp does not offer swimming as an option.

- Â Camp safety is our number one priority. All efforts are made to ensure that the kids are safe throughout the camp. Safety will be prioritized over tennis and activities when necessary. The camp, Wilson Sporting Goods, Premier Sports camps and its coaches and universities are not responsible for personal items brought to camp.

If you are attending the camp as an overnight camper, you can request a roommate at the time of enrollment. Should you need to change this request, please email the office. We can usually meet your request for one roommate; however, please keep in mind that many parents have conflicting requests. (Player A request Player B and Player B request Player C). We will do our very best to sort out these issues ahead of camp, however, if there is a mistake or change that needs to be made at camp check-in, please let us know, and we will do everything in our power to make that change.

Each dorm has a different setup. Some are doubles, triples, quads, and suites. If you would like to have players in rooms next to each other, we will do our best to accommodate.
Should you wish to room with more than just one person, we will do everything in our power to arrange for this, if the room level (double, triple, etc.…) allows.

- Commuter Campers: All lunches and dinners are included from Sunday dinner – Thursday lunch.

HEAD MEN’S TENNIS COACH

Before Indiana Wurtzman coached at Michigan after a successful four-year head coaching tenure with the University of Denver women’s tennis program (2009-13). The 2013 Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, Wurtzman guided Denver to one of the most successful seasons in program history, leading the Pioneers to an 18-4 record and a perfect 8-0 mark in conference play. Prior to taking the helm at Denver, Wurtzman spent the 2008-09 season as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Ohio State, helping the Buckeyes men’s tennis program to the Big Ten regular-season championship, the Big Ten Tournament title and an NCAA finals appearance against USC. Wurtzman began his coaching career as an assistant coach for the University of Denver men’s tennis team for two seasons (2006-08).
Wurtzman enjoyed a successful professional playing career on the ATP World Tour, earning a top-30 American professional singles ranking, captured nine pro circuit doubles titles and was a three-time pro circuit singles finalist.
Ohio State’s first tennis athlete to win an ITA individual championship, Wurtzman went on to win the 2003 ITA Midwest Regional crown before earning the No. 1 singles ranking the following season in 2004. After compiling 42 singles and 30 doubles victories in 2004, Wurtzman was named an All-American, the 2004 ITA/Farnsworth National Senior Player of the Year (co-honoree) and the Midwest Region IV Senior Player of the Year. In 2014, Wurtzman was elected to the Ohio State Hall of Fame. A three-time All-Big Ten selection, Wurtzman finished his collegiate career with a 132-45 singles record and an 86-49 doubles record.

FACILITY
INDIANA UNIVERSITY TENNIS CENTER
The Tennis Center is located in the Athletics Complex area on the north side of Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The outdoor Varsity Tennis Courts are adjacent to North Fee Lane.
With both indoor and outdoor tennis courts, Indiana’s tennis teams are always assured of a quality tennis practice. Located within walking distance of Indiana’s other excellent athletic facilities, the Indiana University Tennis Center and outdoor Varsity Courts have been cited as some of the finest courts in the nation.
The outdoor Varsity Tennis Courts are the primary facility for both the men’s and women’s tennis squads. With a seating capacity of over 600, spectators are assured a quality view of any one of the 10 courts the complex boasts.
