Boarding Camp with Non-Boarder option
For more than 30 years, the Fighting Irish coaching staff has provided young players first rate instruction on the picturesque campus of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Directed by the coaching staffs of both the men’s and women’s programs at Notre Dame, the camp offers both a Traditional and National camp to fit the needs of all levels of players.
Our National Camp is one of the most popular camps in the country and is specifically designed for players with a high level of experience and training. This camp is open to all skills levels but offers a more intensive training curriculum with advanced concepts including instruction on match play tactics and strategies for both singles and doubles as well as speed training and high-intensity drill work.

The University of Notre Dame handles their own registration and sets all camp policies and procedures. Q: Are there Skill Requirements for this camp?
Per NCAA rules, our sports camps are open to all entrants. Enrollment is limited only by age, grade level, gender, and capacity restrictions as specified by each camp.
Q: What type of campers attend this camp?
Our camps are open to all levels of tennis players. We have players from absolute beginner to high school / Tournament level.
We design our camps to teach the technical basics and love of the game to the beginning player, to introduce strategical decision making, and more advanced technique to the intermediate player, while building on their current stroke production, and to put the advanced players into pressured, strategical and competitive situations.
Q. What is the ratio of campers to staff?
Groups will be divided into small instructional groups of approximately 5-6: 1 camper to coach. Some camps/sessions offer higher or lower ratios based on the curriculum.
Q. If the camp is full, do you have a waiting list?

Q. Should I purchase camp/cancellation insurance?
We recommend all families purchase camp/cancellation insurance if they are concerned about the investment they are making in the camp. Kids do get injured, sick and family plans change from the time of registration leading up to the camp. Camp insurance allows peace of mind and has many benefits in any of these events. Safety:
- Â Camp safety is our number one priority. All efforts are made to ensure that the kids are safe throughout the camp. Safety will be prioritized over tennis and activities when necessary. The camp, Wilson Sporting Goods, Premier Sports camps and its coaches and universities are not responsible for personal items brought to camp.
Camp Notes:
- Due to construction on the Notre Dame campus, tennis sessions will take place indoors in the Eck Tennis Pavilion and outdoors at Clay High School.

Camp Check-In:
- Check-in for all campers on Sunday is from 1pm-2pm at the Eck Tennis Pavilion. From there, parents may take kids to the dorm. But they must check-in at the Eck Pavilion first.
- Check-in for Full campers Monday-Thursday is at 8:45am at the Eck Tennis Pavilion
Camp Check-Out:
- Check-out for all Boarding campers is Thursday at 11am.
- Non-Boarders are to be picked up at 8:30pm each evening. At the courts on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday and at the main circle on Notre Dame Ave on Tuesday. Check-out on Thursday is also 11am.

Assistant Men’s Tennis Coach
University of Notre Dame
In July of 2021, Callaghan Family Head Men’s Tennis Coach Ryan Sachire announced the hiring of Shields Family Assistant Men’s Tennis Coach Ross Wilson. Wilson joins the Irish from the University of Iowa, where he had served as the head coach since 2014.
Wilson coached his student-athletes at Iowa to a No. 20 ITA final ranking during the 2020 season, the highest in program history and earned six All-Big Ten selections during his tenure. His student-athletes earned the highest team GPA among all Iowa sports from 2018-2021.
Wilson captained Ohio State’s tennis team as a student-athlete, earning Big Ten Conference & Tournament champion titles for the first time in program history. An ITA Doubles All-American in 2005 and 2006, Wilson was a three-time ITA National doubles champion and part of the only doubles team in the history of college tennis to win the ITA National Indoors back to back years.
After graduating from Ohio State, Wilson joined the ATP, where he won two ITF Futures doubles titles and earned a career high ATP Doubles ranking of #587 and singles ranking #1098.

Head Men’s Tennis Coach

One of the top players in the history of the University of Notre Dame men’s tennis program, Ryan Sachire became the seventh head coach in the 91-year history of the program July 1, 2013 after serving two seasons as an assistant coach and five as the associate head coach after returning home to the Golden Dome in the summer of 2006.
Sachire ended his professional career in 2005 and was an assistant at Baylor in 2005-06, helping the Bears reach the semifinals of the NCAA Championship. A three-time singles All-American with the Irish, he replaced former Irish assistant Todd Doebler, who was hired as the head coach at Penn State.
Sachire’s effect on the Irish took absolutely no time to take hold. In his first season at Notre Dame, the Irish reached the NCAA round-of-16 for the second straight year, finished with the most victories in a single-season since 1980-81 and ended the campaign ranked sixth in the country (the highest ranking to close a season since being ranked third at the completion of the 1991-92 season). Sachire also was instrumental in the performance of Stephen Bass, who not only became the 18th All-American in Notre Dame men’s tennis history, but also captured the John Van Nostrand Memorial Award, which provides a stipend to the top senior player embarking on a professional career (an award Sachire captured in 2000).

Head Women’s Tennis Coach

In 2021, Silverio’s team earned five ITA Scholar-Athlete awards, three ACC Academic Honor Roll nominations, and an All-ACC Academic Team selection. In 2021, the Irish finished at 11-13.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic ended her second season early with an 11-5 record, Silverio earned a signature win over No. 20 Southern Cal at the College Match Day.
In her first season at Notre Dame, Silverio piloted the Irish to a 13-12 mark while mentoring junior Zoe Spence and sophomore Cameron Corse to All-ACC selections. Notre Dame spent a few weeks in the ITA team rankings, while reaching the second round of the ACC Championship.

FACILITY
COURTNEY TENNIS CENTER
Notre Dame’s Courtney Tennis Center, the home of Irish men’s tennis since its construction in 1967 and women’s tennis since the establishment of the varsity program in 1980, has played host to the nation’s top players on a number of occasions, while becoming an extremely difficult place for opposing teams to win.
Due to its exceptional facilities, Notre Dame has played host to a number of prestigious events, including serving as the national site of the NCAA Championships three times. Just four years after it was built the Courtney Tennis Center played host to the 1971 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championships, which featured what is still considered by coaches to be the finest collection of collegiate tennis talent ever assembled.
In all, the Courtney Tennis Center has been the site of NCAA action on 18 occasions, including every year from 1994-2002 for either women or men’s play.
In addition, it has played host to conference championships on 14 occasions, as well as an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Summer Circuit event for 10 straight years from 1994-2003.
In addition to the summer circuit events and postseason tournaments, the Irish women’s program played host to the Eck Classic from 1988-2002 as well as in ’06, ’10 and ’11 during the fall season, while the men’s squad competed in the Tom Fallon annually from 1987-2008 and again played host beginning in ’10, ’11 and ’12. The tournament was renamed the Bobby Bayliss Invitational in 2013.
The first home of the Irish tennis team was the Notre Dame Fieldhouse, which played host to Irish home matches until the Courtney Center was built. The structure was razed in 1983. Indoor courts in Notre Dame’s Joyce Center also were used sporadically before the Eck Tennis Pavilion’s construction.
