Day Camp with Half Day option
One of the most popular tennis camps in Colorado, the Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camp at Colorado College offers 1 week of incredible fun and tennis training. Under the guidance of Asst. Men & Women’s Tennis Coach Ilona Wilson, this camp features full and half-day camp options. Throughout the week each camper receives personal attention, advanced teaching techniques, intensive drill work, and game/match play daily. Campers are broken into small instructional groups with those of similar age, ability, and experience so each child is working in a group that is commensurate with their experience level. We tailor each program to the level of the players.
Action-packed with tennis fun, the Colorado College tennis camp is the highlight of the summer for kids ages 7-18.

Inclement Weather:
- Unfortunately, we do not have indoor courts on campus and in the event of inclement weather we will have to adjust accordingly. We will supplement the tennis with fitness and footwork drills, video tennis analysis, mental coaching. We also have access to the Recreation center and will fill out the day with recreational activities. Please be assured we will do everything in our power to ensure maximum outdoor tennis throughout the week and will make every effort to communicate with the families on those days of poor weather.

- Kids are grouped by skill, age and experience. Often these groups change throught the course of the camp.

Q: Are there Skill Requirements for this camp?
Per NCAA rules, our sports camps are open to all entrants. Enrollment is limited only by age, grade level, gender, and capacity restrictions as specified by each camp.
Q: What type of campers attend this camp?
Our camps are open to all levels of tennis players. We have players from absolute beginner to high school / Tournament level.
We design our camps to teach the technical basics and love of the game to the beginning player, to introduce strategical decision making, and more advanced technique to the intermediate player, while building on their current stroke production, and to put the advanced players into pressured, strategical and competitive situations.
Q. What is the ratio of campers to staff?
Groups will be divided into small instructional groups of approximately 5-6: 1 camper to coach. Some camps/sessions offer higher or lower ratios based on the curriculum.

Q. Should I purchase camp/cancellation insurance?
We recommend all families purchase camp/cancellation insurance if they are concerned about the investment they are making in the camp. Kids do get injured, sick and family plans change from the time of registration leading up to the camp. Camp insurance allows peace of mind and has many benefits in any of these events. - Â Camp safety is our number one priority. All efforts are made to ensure that the kids are safe throughout the camp. Safety will be prioritized over tennis and activities when necessary. The camp, Wilson Sporting Goods, Premier Sports camps and its coaches and universities are not responsible for personal items brought to camp.

Camp Director:
Ilona Wilson
ASSISTANT MEN’S AND WOMEN’S TENNIS COACH
COLORADO COLLEGE
Ilona Wilson is in her 10th season as the assistant coach for the men’s and women’s tennis teams at Colorado College in 2022-23. She joined the program prior to the spring portion of the 2013-14 season after spending one season as the girls tennis coach at Liberty High School in Colorado Springs. In addition to her duties at CC, Wilson is on the tennis staff at the Monument Hill Country Club in Monument, Colo.
A 1999 graduate of Hofstra University, she played tennis on an NCAA Division I scholarship there, serving as team captain her final three years and earning a spot on the American East Conference honor roll her last two. The two-time team MVP also earned a master’s degree in physical education from Hofstra in 2001.
Wilson previously coached at Hofstra and Ithaca College in New York, and was a physical education instructor at Cornell University. She also has considerable experience teaching and coaching at the elementary and high school levels.

The coaching staff of the Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camp at Colorado College is one of the strongest and most well respected in the country. Consisting of top collegiate coaches and players, the staff is handpicked for their ability to teach and relate to young players in a friendly, thorough and responsible manner.

FACILITY
The Burghart Tennis Courts
The Burghart Tennis Courts, located just northwest of the El Pomar Sports Center and adjacent to Washburn Field on the Colorado College campus, provide a home competition site for the Colorado College men’s and women’s tennis teams.
The complex can accommodate as many as six matches at once, with convenient entrances to all courts and easy access to indoor locker rooms. In addition to serving as the home facility for varsity competition, the courts are available for use by the entire campus community.
Named after longtime CC supporters Bob and Yolanda Burghart, who both graduated from the college in the 1920s, the courts were improved and resurfaced during the summer of 2012 as part of the three-phase, $27 million renovations and new construction project reshaping the entire El Pomar Sports Center.
