Full Day Camp
The Wilson Collegiate Tennis Camp at The Wellington School offers one of the most unique tennis camp experiences in central Ohio. Featuring two weeks of fun, learning, and skill-building, the Wellington camp provides all young campers with a better understanding of the game of Tennis. This tennis camp is directed by Denison University Women’s Head Coach Jamie Scott. Join us at Wellington this coming July, for the highlight of your summer.
Located in the Upper Arlington area of Columbus, the Wellington School camp offers a full day option for all campers. Our curriculum is designed around the age and ability of each camper to allow every child to succeed in their skill-building needs.
Throughout the week each camper receives personal attention, advanced teaching techniques, intensive drill work and game/match play daily. Campers are broken into small instructional groups with those of similar age., ability and experience so each child is working in a group that is commensurate with their experience level. We tailor each program to the level of the players.
This camp offers additional fun activities and games throughout the week, including an all camp party on Friday – complete with treats and prizes for everyone!

Inclement Weather:

Unfortunately, we do not have indoor courts at this location and in the event of inclement weather we will have to adjust accordingly. If the weather continuously persists, we do have options to go indoors to the gymnasium and set up mini courts to play on.
Please be assured we will do everything in our power to ensure maximum outdoor tennis throughout the week and will make every effort to communicate with the families in the case of inclement weather.

Q: Are there Skill Requirements for this camp?
Per NCAA rules, our sports camps are open to all entrants. Enrollment is limited only by age, grade level, gender, and capacity restrictions as specified by each camp.
Q: What type of campers attend this camp?
Our camps are open to all levels of tennis players. We have players from absolute beginner to high school / Tournament level.
We design our camps to teach the technical basics and love of the game to the beginning player, to introduce strategical decision making, and more advanced technique to the intermediate player, while building on their current stroke production, and to put the advanced players into pressured, strategical and competitive situations.
Q. What is the ratio of campers to staff?
Groups will be divided into small instructional groups of approximately 5-6: 1 camper to coach. Some camps/sessions offer higher or lower ratios based on the curriculum.

Q. Should I purchase camp/cancellation insurance?
We recommend all families purchase camp/cancellation insurance if they are concerned about the investment they are making in the camp. Kids do get injured, sick and family plans change from the time of registration leading up to the camp. Camp insurance allows peace of mind and has many benefits in any of these events. - Â Camp safety is our number one priority. All efforts are made to ensure that the kids are safe throughout the camp. Safety will be prioritized over tennis and activities when necessary. The camp, Wilson Sporting Goods, Premier Sports camps and its coaches and universities are not responsible for personal items brought to camp.

David Schilling
Head Men’s Tennis Coach
Denison UniversityÂ
David Schilling enters his first season as the head men’s tennis coach in 2020-21. A 1989 Denison graduate and one of the most accomplished tennis players in the history of the program, Schilling comes to Denison after 20 years as an assistant coach at Ohio State. With Schilling on staff, Ohio State ascended to the top of the Big Ten and became a top-five program at the NCAA Division I level. The Buckeyes are currently riding a streak of 14 consecutive Big Ten championships, dating back to 2019. Since 2016 Ohio State men’s tennis has compiled a record of 146-16 (.901). In 2018, the Buckeyes advanced to the Division I national championship match.
In 2010, Schilling was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year and in 2012 he coached Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola to the NCAA Doubles Championship. The following year, Rola won the NCAA Singles Championship.
Prior to joining the coaching staff at Ohio State, Schilling was the head men’s tennis coach at Kenyon College from 1994-99 where he guided the Lords to the North Coast Athletic Championship in 1995 while being ranked in the top-25 of the Division III rankings for five-straight seasons. Schilling went 87-36 (.707) with the Lords, ranking him second in career wins.
He also spent two seasons as the assistant men’s and women’s tennis coach from 1992-94 at Denison and was the assistant men’s tennis coach at the College of Wooster from 1989-92.
Schilling graduated from Denison in 1989 with a degree in economics and went on to earn his master’s in sports management from Ohio State in 1994. A four-year member of the Denison men’s tennis team, he was a five-time All-NCAC honoree and was one of only 10 singles players named to the NCAC 10th Anniversary All-Decade Team in 1993. The Big Red captured four-straight NCAC Championships while Schilling was a member of the squad.

HEAD WOMEN’S TENNIS COACH
DENISON UNIVERSITY
In her first six seasons at the helm of the Big Red, Scott boasts an overall record of 71-36 (.664 pct.), including six straight winning seasons, two national tournament appearances, three division titles and four appearances in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament Championship match (2018, 2019, 2022, 2023), including an NCAC Championship in 2022. Scott was named the NCAC Coach of the Year for the first time in her career in 2022, and has produced 26 All-NCAC selections in five full seasons.
Coach Scott was named to the ITA Division III Operating Committee for back-to-back terms (July 2020, August 2023), representing the ITA’s Central Region in governance decisions. Additionally, Scott was named to the ITA Rankings committee in the Fall of 2023 and currently serves as the ITA Central Rankings Chair.
Scott competed collegiately at the University of Wyoming from 2005 to 2009 where she compiled 73 career wins across singles and doubles competition. During her time in Laramie, the Cowgirls reached the Mountain West Conference Tournament Quarterfinals all four years.
